Oops...

I am currently watching "Julie and Julia" for the second time today and I was thinking, wow that's a pretty cool idea. Oh wait, I already have a blog I've been abandoning. I think there's just something therapeutic about Julie Powell's project. This sort of longish short term goal. I wish I had an idea of my own, but I don't have the patience, time or economic means to take on such a project. I mean, seriously, how did she afford all of the ingredients?? But anyways, maybe I will think of something. Maybe I can cook my way through a different cook book. I have noticed that I talk to my puppy the way Julie talks to her imaginary Julia. Often I rant and rave to my dog. He just sits there and looks at me like I'm a crazy person. Though he always seems to know when I'm upset. He'll come sit by me and let me hug him.

Things have been drastically changing these past few months. We bought a condo! Well, let me back track here. We went out with a real estate agent just to get a feel of what we can get in our budget in different neighborhoods less than a month ago. We saw 8 condos that day in 3 different cities. We fell in love with condo number 3. We went out for lunch after about 4 hours of looking at real estate (and, um, ew there was were some gross places!) and over a Italian food, we decided to put in an offer on condo number 3. Several hours later, about a dozen pages of documents signed, we were under contract. We're set to close in 2 weeks. AH! Did I tell you how insane all of this is? We weren't even really ready to buy a place until next summer. I'm paying a penalty to break my lease but SF Dude is staying in his apartment until the end of his lease. So we'll have 6 months of paying both mortgage and rent. Yikes. We can afford to do all of this, but it's still in sane. And scary. Channeling a Friends episode..."I have to live with a boy!!!"

The condo is beautiful though. 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, hardwood floors, renovated to sell. The building is about 20 years old, but everything in the apartment is brand new (well, except the washer/dryer). It's small though. The third bedroom is perfect for an office (maybe a nursery like 5 years in the future). And oh, there is a ring! Well, I haven't actually seen this ring yet. SF Dude bought the diamond as a loose stone and is getting it set. And it turns out I have midget fingers (size 4?? seriously??) so the jeweler has to order the setting, etc etc. It won't be ready until around Christmas. Since we'll be in Georgia for Christmas, and we're closing two days after we get back, he is proposing on the December 28th. It is so weird that this is scheduled. Like there should be an entry in my Outlook. December 28th, 7 PM, get engaged. I told him that he didn't have to have the ring to propose, but who knows what he's going to do. Yes, this is completely weird and not normal.

I have one more week of work and then I'm off to Mexico! I'm spending 3 glorious days in the Riviera Maya with one of my best friends for her wedding. I cannot wait. I haven't been to a beach since SF Dude was in Iraq...so about 3.5 years. Crazy!

Anyways, I'm going to fall asleep to Julie and Julia.
